miami to ibizzzzzzzzzza

In complete summer mood right now listening to miami to ibiza by tinie tempah and swedish house mafia which has been a favourite song of mine for a while now. Thought I might post a few of my favourite tumblrs on here. I have been obsessed at looking at tumblrs and photography which just makes me even more excited for doing photography not next year but the year after at school. Anyway going to a rave tonight which I'm excited and then a party next weekend so pretty rowdy line up to kickstart holidays, I'm just kidding. But expect summer posts later like summer hair, summer music and summer make-up. I love you all very much and have great days. Also if you have a tumblr post it in the comments and I'll check it outtttt.
one, two, three and four
plus also this diet plan i have found and am willing to take part
and that is all

i know what you did last summer..

School for me finished yesterday, wasn't too upsetting. A few girls cried but to be honest we are going back in eight weeks but I do understand, it didn't really hit me that I do not have school for ages until today. Last day was good though, watched grease in drama (which I haven't watched in forever but still love), the end of back to the future 3 in english (kinda weird but I love back to the future), plus games in other classes, then we had packing up and yearbooks handed out. Pretty good day, I enjoyed it. Since it's summer there will be summer posts and I apologize in advance those of you who are in winter now but summer just gets me so excited. My laptop came back safe and sound and I also bought my first liquid liner (took a while) and finally got around to getting the wildpair scarf I blogged about here which I am in love with. I am moving house this weekend too which is pretty exciting since it's on the same street as my best friend but yea. Hope you guys are all well and I'll blog soon.

no love

Super sorry, this is coming off a computer at the internet cafe because my laptop got a virus and it is taking the repair man forever to fix it. Just saying that I'm not leaving you all and there will be more back to basics and summer posts coming for sure. I love you all.

lotsa reviews all rolled into one.

Feel free to call me a slacker, because that is pretty much what I've been doing, slacking off. Exams are well and truly over which means two weeks until end of school and then summer holidays plus christmas (!!!) but the part I'm most looking forward to is new years. Last year I was out of the country during new years so I missed out on all the fun but this year I'm staying put and partying it up, sort of. There are a lot of products I've been meaning to review for a long long long long time and they've all built up so I have decided to review two of them here but not really go into detail, more like brush on my opinion and things like that.

big shampoo.
Big is THE shampoo of lush, my lush lady even told me there is a cult that follow it. Imagine, a shampoo with it's own cult. So I went along to the lush store, slapped my money on the counter and said 'I need something for my hair'. The lady smiled as she took me through the little pot of wonders also referred to as big shampoo, as she told me more I slowly fell in love. The consistency is not the common shampoo consistancy and although I love it, it caused my best friend the shrivel up her nose and say 'I don't think that's shampoo..'. It is very gel like with heaps of big sea salt bits in it but don't be alarmed because that is what it's supposed to be like. I personally love the smell, it's hard to explain but to me it smells fresh and like the ocean if that makes sense. On the first wash your hair is silky and smooth but for the volume you have to wash twice. What I do with it is do the first wash working the shampoo all over my hair and the second just in the roots and then finally putting in conditioner just at the bottom of my hair. Since I love volume in my hair as well as it being silky smooth, big shampoo is a must. I don't use it everyday, just twice a week. can purchase it from lush stores

scarlett and greene skincare.
Do not worry, I will be doing another review in about a months time telling you my overall liking of this product, who I recommend it to yada yada yada but for now I've only been using it for two weeks and so far I'm in love. There is no toner which I found rather odd about it so I researched it and found that toner is not always needed in skincare. It comes with a cleanser/make-up remover which removes make-up and dirt and then a break out control wash and finally an oil free moisturiser. Scarlett and greene market themselves on their products being 'free from nasties' meaning no harmful ingredients to cause irritation to your skin. This means if you have sensitive skin I would look into it because natural products are good for you. Also if you have clear skin then you don't need the acne wash, just the cleanser and moisturiser. The only problem is that so far I'm pretty sure it is only available in New Zealand but I'm planning on having a giveaway later in life and the scarlett and greene products will definately be thrown in there. can purchase from scarlett and greene website or in check stockists to see if there's a store near you that sells it

joined the tumblr club.

yes, yes and yes, I have joined in on the tumblr craze. I wasn't going to but looking at people's tumblr accounts and it looks like so much fun posting photos and quotes that inspire you. So I jumped on the tumblr band wagon and created this little ray of sunshine which by this point is pretty patheitic but tell me what you think and also send me your tumblrs is you want and I'll check them out.
fix my broken machine is the name which is pretty much a song by a new zealand singer zowie or bionic pixie which was the song stuck in my head so that's what I called it.

back to basics: finding your foundation.

Finding your right foundation takes patience but is well worth it once the right one is found. Foundation is where it all starts off so in order for your make-up to look fantastic your base has to be fantastic as well. There are a tone of different foundations out there but you have to find the one that suits you.
- Generally higher end brands (especially mac and bobbi brown) have many colour varieties so if you really struggle with finding the right colour in drugstore brands or you like your colour to be dead on your natural skin colour then I would reccommend investing.
- The lighting in shops may be very different to 'natural' lighting which you will mostly be seen in so once the make-up girl applies it to your face tell her you will come back later and step into natural light outside and look at it in a compact mirror to see is you like it.
- The general rule is that you go foundation shopping bare faced to ensure the colour is right
- always test the foudation on your face (on the jaw line) and not on your hand and when you find one you want to try apply it all over
- Some girls make the mistake of wanting to look tanner so they buy foundation in a few shades darker than their skin tone, do NOT do this. If you want to look tanner use bronzer
- if there's a foundation you want to try out search for reviews on it, then you can see what other people did or didn't like about it
- decide on the way you want to apply it: either using fingers, brush or sponge
- when starting out with make-up or teenage skin try using a tinted moisturiser so that it's lighter and move on to foundation when your skin needs it. If you have clear skin there is no point in piling on layers of foundation
- The majority of peopl have different shades of foundation for summer and winter because of the skin colour difference during the seasons.
- Some foundations can cause skin irritation so if you have sensitive skin you may want to look into that or use foundations that are natural
- If you have acne or pimples then you may want to lean towards a mineral or oil-free formula
- Finally foundation is a overall choice of what you like, the finish of your skin, the coverage, the formula

that is pretty much it but I hoped that helped a few of you, if you have any reccomendations

scarlett & greene.

Just a quick little post as I have maths and science exams tomorrow. Exam week is so hectic it gets to a point where you want to give up but you can't do that. I think the only thing that kept me going through the english exam today was that afterwards, I got to go home. So anyway I just wanted to tell you guys a little about a skincare company I will be trying soon. I was running terribly low on my clinique 3 step anti-blemish solutions and I thought for almost $200 for the whole set and it only last me almost two months it really wasn't worth it. So I heard about this company called scarlett & greene which is New Zealand based but it's an all natural skincare system which is almost half the price of my former one. I tried the samples I got from my school and then decided to go and purchase them. I have to go study now but I will have a review on first thoughts soon, promise.

back to basics: eyebrows

'If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then the eyebrows should be the curtains that frame and compliment them'
eyebrows are the worst, nobody notices them until they're gone. A lesson after being in a class when I was 7 with a funny looking boy and, on the last day of school found out why he was so funny looking, he had no eyebrows, have learnt that eyebrows are pretty important. Some girls are born with naturally trimmed and pretty eyebrows while other are less fortunate. Remember not everyones eyebrows are the same, try and determine your natural arch and where your eyebrows should stop and if you have eyebrows and not just one. I reccomend going to a professional first to get the right shape and then trying out these methods.

waxing.
I would never ever wax my eyebrows myself, most of all because I would stuff it up and because I am terrible with pain (that being the understatement of the century). I've had my eyebrows waxed professionally before and I like it better than plucking because the pain is over faster. I have however heard rumours about waxing that sensitive area can cause premature wrinkles near the eyes.  I'm not a beautician (yet!) so I have no idea.

plucking.
again wimp wimp wimp, this hurts so bad. I pluck maybe when I'm in a rush and theres a few stray hairs but I have had a few experiences of my best friend holding me down on the couch icing my eyebrows before plucking proceeding to pluck them. Most people go for this option but plucking makes me cry and although worth the pain I can't put myself through it. I do however have a few tips for plucking. Put some bonjela (its for mouth ulsars) on the eyebrows to numb the pain and when plucking stand a few feet away from the mirror because if you have you nose pressed against it you will most likely keep plucking until the whole eyebrow is gone. Once done smooth aloe vera gel over.

threading.
I learnt to do this off the youtube where you just type in 'how to thread eyebrows' and search. I've done it myself a couple times and it does hurt but not as bad as plucking. I once did get it done professionally but that lady was savage, she must've been having a bad day as she angrily threaded my eyebrows while grunting and finally slapping some aloe vera gel so gloopy that it dripped down into my eyes and I had to fight a smile as my eyeballs slowly caught fire (metaphor. Atleast I think it is, going to fail english). Then ran to the car where my mother was waiting for me. After all of that, she did a pretty good job on the eyebrows. Definately look into threading.

shaving/trimming.
sounds scary, I know but really it isn't. Personally this is what I do and it works because I fear pain. I got my eyebrows waxed to a shape I liked and went and bought an eyebrow trimmer which is by the brand kupis which I'm pretty sure is a New Zealand brand but if your interested in it then tell me and I when I have a giveaway or contest I will definately throw one of those in. So now I just trim my eyebrow hairs when they start growing back. It is so easy and painless, I can do it before school as I'm running out the door. Do not use a regular razor to shave eyebrows as I have learnt from experience.

grooming.
As for grooming I don't do much, I brush my eyebrows. One way is to use a toothbrush (not one you use on your teeth) or an old mascara wand that you have washed. Another way is to buy one or buy a disposable pack or take a few disposable ones when the clinique or the mac lady aren't looking.. I mainly brush the hairs upwards (which makes me look like a crazy woman) and then to the side.

Finished!

back to basics. make-up storage

As my first 'back to basics' post this will be a suggestion on how to store your make-up. It's just a guide so you can twist it into how you like. This is just how I do it but if you have another way of storing it comment below because I would love to see how other people store their things.

first option.
draws
Pick up some little draws that can be found at kmart and places like that, they can range from cheap to expensive but they are mostly pretty cheap. The ones I have are clear and plastic, I got them at a salvation army. Then seperate your make-up. There are two ways you can do this: first is the most common which I do which is seperate prep items (correcting creams, moisturiser, primer), base make-up (concealer, foundation), face products (blush, bronzer, illuminator), eye products (mascara, eyeshadow, liner), lip products (gloss, lipstick, lipstains) and optional pallettes. The second way is where you have a draw for occasions, like everyday use, colourful make-up and night make-up which is less common but I've heard of it being done. It just depends how many draws you have. You can label the draws as well if you want to. I tend to put the 'prettier' like new make-up in the front then the old almost run out make-up which I keep at the back of the draws. On top of the draws you can put your skin and hair products or a mirror from the dollar store.

second option
vases
I personally use the draw option but the vase I think would be a really cool display. Go to a vintage store and pick up a few clear vases in different sizes. Again seperate your make-up and then put them in the vases. This looks really cool but the thing is it might be hard to find things in a rush so try keep the make-up you use the most at the top. Again you can label the vases or decorate them by tying ribbon around.

extra
I just store my brushes in a little vase but I have a friend who stores hers in a vintage tea cup which I think is adorable.

not sure if that helped anyone but thanks for reading (:

back to basics

Just a little introduction to my new, kind of collection of posts called 'back to basics' which are just going to be posts with basic info in them, mostly if your staring out with make-up. I will also still be posting other things in between for the other people who aren't into that sort of stuff. I will be posting some days go by, outfit of the days, little updates and hauls. I am supposed to be studying but my brain is so like tired, if that is even possible but wish me luck because exams are next week. That also means four more weeks until summer holidays.

quick tag.

Guess who's back with another tag? Yes, I was tagged on my last blog post about halloween. I said I was going to do an outfit of the night but I didn't have time because I was in a rush and it was boring anyway. I didn't dress up which was good because hardly anyone was. I have another one coming up soon as well so I will do an outfit of the night for that I promise. Anyway I have a few dilemmas before I get into the tag. So I'm thinking about getting blackberry. I've heard a lot of people talking about them and how they bbm. Not a lot of people I know have blackberrys but I think I'm old enough to have a more expensive phone but tell me what you think and if you've had one. Also early next year usher and katy perry are coming to New Zealand and I really want to go to both but I won't be able to. I'm not sure which one to go to because I've been told katy sucks live but from her performances at award shows she seems pretty good so idk. But yea, anyway enough blabbering and here is the tag.

happppy halloween (:

Hey girlies,
I know I said I would do more halloween tutorials but I feel like a lot have been done on blogs and youtube. If your still stuck for halloween go and check out megan one of my favourite youtube girls has a lot of halloween tutorials that are worth checking out. Anyway I have a halloween music festival tonight which I am really looking forward to. Also on another note I was just wondering if any of you have been to usher or katy perry in concert because they are coming to New Zealand next year and I'm not sure which one I want to go to. So I may post an outfit of the night either tonight or tomorrow or some time next week. One week until exams so I'm trying to get in full study mode.
That's about it,
promise after exams there will be more tutorials, I am planning maybe some fashion posts as well

halloween: nerd costume

I said I wasn't going to but I was looking at other halloween tutorials and I thought what the heck? It seems fun and may inspire a few plus it'll help me make my mind up about what I want to be. Girls my age don't really go all out for halloween, they prefer to wear little dresses and a pair of devil horns (and like magic its a costume). I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that because I understand not wanting to wrap your entire body with toilet paper or throwing a sheet over your head. It's a little late but here goes nothing.

hair
for your hair, keep it simple and little girl-ish. I would suggest low or high pigtails, loose braids either side or a messy bun and shove a couple coloured pencils in there

make-up
keep make-up natural and light because nerds aren't very vampy. So natural base make-up, a little eyeshadow, liner, mascara and blush. Keep lips pink and pretty or if you want a nice red lip would look super cute, not exactly nerd-ish but still, its halloween.

outfit
Wear like one of your dads old dress shirts over a singlet or get a cheap star wars t-shirt. With your shirt wear a tie or bow tie. As for bottoms wear high-waisted shorts or jeans. Another thing you could wear is a skirt, plain or plaid. Then wear thick white knee-high socks with any black shoes, converse, flats, heels. Then the final touch buy some of those geeky glasses that are like ray bans with clear lenses. If you don't want to spend the money then just get some cheap black sunglasses and poke the lenses out.

extras
For extra things to add to your costume, you could carry around a like action figure lunchbox to collect candy in. You could also buy some suspenders to wear with your costume and even a little sign taped to your back that says 'kick me' or 'nerd'.

That is it, I hoped you enjoyed that. Tell me your ideas for halloween and request a few. I'm not exactly sure what other costumes I will be doing but I'd love to hear your ideas.

alexander mcqueen inspired scarf, rad or bad???

I've had my beady eye on this scarf for a while, to me it just looks really nice. I mentioned it in my last post but I thought it deserved a special mention. The first time I saw it was on the beautiful anna's blog (pictured above) and have just been spotting it in everywhere ever since. Of course it is super expensive and I would never ever be able to afford it on a babysitters pay (which pretty much isn't a job as it is) and I'm still a naive irresponsible teenager so I have been looking for like replicas, preferrably cheap replicas. I also like it because I'm a dedicated scarf person, scarves all year round is my motto, big cream and grey knit ones in winter and thin or silk ones in summer.
So browsing the wildpair website I stumbled across the most perfect scarf (click it) and I pretty much freaked. Obviously it's not exact but it is pretty close. I'm pretty sure I like the white one better but I'm not too sure. The thing I love about the black and white is it would be very versatile. It's just something different in which I love.

one and two

days go by..

just a daily post of what I'm doing today inspired by zoella one blog I am quite enjoying lately. Things on my mind are the thought of dying my hair for reals this time but not yet, I'm thinking in summer holidays which is 5 or 7 weeks away I'm pretty sure. The two colours I'm thinking about is darker brown like almost black or doing the pretty ombre thing for summer, like keep my natural colour and have a caramel at the bottom, it looks really cool. Another thing is piercings, I'm not too sure if I want to get a nose stud anymore, it looks super cute, like miley cyrus' one but I wouldn't be allowed to wear it to school which would be a bummer cause of school rules and everything. I have decided though to get the top of my ear pierced which a lot of girls at my school and my best friend (body pictured above, sorry love) which looks super cute. I am going to watch family play touch rugby today because it's public holiday which I am loving and then I think I'm going shopping because I got a little belated birthday money which totally made my day so I'm thinking of getting this wildpair (favourite shop) scarf (it's a link) for summer, it is super cute and reminds me of the alexander mcqueen one I've seen girls wear. I usually don't wear skulls but I love this, I'm thinking I'll get the white one, it'll be kind of edgy. That's pretty much it for today enjoy.

just casual ootd, update + need your help

Hey girlies
I've been away for a while and when I posted they were mostly boring posts anyway but sadly it doesn't end here. I've been making study notes and things in preparation for exams and all last week and the one before that learning and performing the school production I was in but that is all ended. Still, for the next  three weeks I will be in complete study mode. Apart from the occasional fun weekend.
Today was beautiful spring weather I just walked into the village with my best friend and had some sushi and a banana smoothie which were both delicious and then looked around the market before walking home. Tonight we are going to a party which should be fun and then the following day going shopping for this halloween music festival we are going to. This is where you come in, I have never been to this festival before but I have been told what the girls wear are just outfits with devil horns or a witch hat or whatever. So not like full on zombie make-up and stuff so I need your help deciding like maybe a cat or peacock or something, I will credit you if I like your idea (:

hair
my hair is semi-greasy and in need of a wash so I just stuck it up in a messy bun for the day and am going to take a shower after this post is done. I swear I owe my whole life to the person/people that invented messy buns, they save my life

make-up
just a little powder and concealer and lined subtly around my eyes which is what I've been doing a lot recently

outfit
since it is sunny and a lot of girls seem to be whipping out the short shorts I have been loving the black tights under denim shorts trend which I paired with this casual kind of jumper top thats a red orangey grey type of color
jumper - cotton on
shorts - supre
tights - the warhouse
shoes - all black converse

hope you enjoyed and please post your halloween outfit ideas (:

let's get physical.

Lately I've been feeling really lazy and unfit plus I'm not exactly happy with my body so I have decided to create a workout regime. I don't want to look like the girl in the picture but my goal is to lose a little weight and tone up. So starting today I am creating a workout routine and also some healthy eating rules to follow and since I'm posting it, it's official. Keeping in mind this is during the school term and I have to work around exams and study but when it gets to summe holidays I will for sure be intensifying it.

workout routine
the gym
I go to the gym two times a week in the morning on the first day I cycle interval train on the bike for ten minutes and the rest of the time I go on the circuit and do some weght training to tone my stomach, thighs, arms and butt. Then the second day I go on the eliptical machine and interval train for thirty minutes on hill trainer. It in't much but I have a busy week.

at home
I go for runs with my mum at night time that are around one to two kms long which I am struggling so far but I find everytime it gets easier. I also have a little routine I do that takes like 5-10 minutes.
20 crunches
10 ab lifts
20 crunches
10 ab lifts
10 burpies
10 push ups
That is it, all I do for working out as time goes on and it gets easy for me to do I will increase it to keep it challenging.

healthy eating rules
no ice-cream
no soda
skip desser
healthy snacking
count to ten between each bite
eight glasses of water per day
one glass of milk

help wanted.

here in New Zealand it is getting into the warmer months where I switch from foundation to a tinted moisturizer but one problem, I don't have a good tinted moisturizer. I do have and use one (proactiv tinted moisturizer spf 15) but only because it works and I got it for free. The main reason I love tinted moisturizer is because it gives your skin coverage without looking cakey or like paint, it makes it look like a better version of your skin. I recommend it to most teenagers even if you have pretty bad skin which I have (acne, uneven skintone, huge pores) I still think you should at least try it. I use it under a powder since I have very oily skin and gives that little extra coverage. If you have average or dry skin then you can just stick to the tinted moisturizer. Anyway back to the main point of this post is that I am in search of a great tinted moisturizer, I don't mind if it's high end or drugstore but a spf would be a great added extra. Basically just one you use or want to try or have heard of being great. I'll research into it and select one to choose and in the review post I will link you for your help.

my 'gotta go now' make-up, hair and outfit.

I know everyone has those days where they slept in or missed their alarm and they have to get up and go in less than 10 minutes. This happens to some more occasionally than others and I feel like this happens to me almost every single morning so I have this rushing technique down to a fine science.

make up
1. cleanse and moisturise face
2. apply concealer under eyes and on any blemished
3. apply a pressed powder (loose can be messy especially when in a rush) all over face.
4. apply a quick sweep of bronzer on cheeks as blush, on chin and on temples
5. apply cream illuminator on brow bone and on inner corner
6. apply a few coats of mascara and a bit of vaseline
for most of this I just use my fingers which are faster then finding brushes in the morning

hair
1. if greasy looking spray a little dry shampoo
2. flip head over and tease a little with brush and spray
3. gather on top of head and tie in a messy bun
4. spray and bobby pin

outfit
1. put on a pair of jeans, light wash or dark wash
2. throw on a cute top
3. add a leather or denim jacket in winter with a scarf
4. throw on pandora bracelet
5. socks and all black converses

its a (pantene three minute) miracle

I recently bought a three pack of the pantene three minute miracle for $8.99 because it was cheap and sounded like what I needed only to find out it would be my latest hair love. My hair recently has been really dry lately but then my roots are greasy so I've been trying to find a product that doesn't make my roots oily but then softens my hair.

the good.
It only takes three minutes in the shower plus I didn't need all the tube so I used it to cover my whole head and then wash it out and used the remaining product mixed with my conditioner a few days later. My hair is pretty long as well, maybe just below my bust line. The results were incredible, I don't think my hair has ever been this soft, I keep on touching it because it feels so smooth.

the bad.
my hair doesn't have much texture anymore which kinda sucks because I do like a lot of texture in my hair. It's not a re-sealable tube so if you have shorter hair and want to use it multiple times you can't seal it back up.

the ugly.
It is cheap at approximately $3.00 per tube but it reccomends to use it once a week which will add up but then again you don't have to use it every week.

update: I'm now on term holidays for two weeks which is great plus on my latest post I got some comments which made me ecstatic. I'm planning to go to IMATS in sydney next year but anyway this term I will be working, shopping and sitting my learners. I'm excited but when we get back from holidays in a few weeks we have junior exams but its only eight weeks of school I have to live through until summer. I have also chosen my options for next year which are maths, english, PE, media studies, art and general science

me and my sisterr.

Today was my sisters birthday and we went to a movie and had wagamama which was fun. My sister is so funny and she reminds me so much of myself when I was younger, I love her. She turned 12 which makes one more year until she turns into a teenager. So happpy birthday little sis. On another note I am now tweeting again my twitter is girlabouttownn with two n's. I also went shopping last weekend but I got clothes and I don't know if you guys would be interested in that. We had the biggest storm last night and not going to lie it was kind of scary considering I was watching a nightmare on elm street at the same time. I have been pretty good lately and have one week left of school which makes me happy. Currently I have been listening to the naked and famous and also the 'country' playlist I made on my ipod which consists of john mayer, taylor swift, brad paisley and darius rucker. That's pretty much it for this week. More posts later.

hairrr routine.

Lately I've really been into hair which is kinda cool because it is a lot like make-up, you have your higher end brands like tigi and joico and you also have you lower end or drugstore brands like pantene and tresemme. As for my hair, it is virgin hair (never been dyed) with oily roots and dry ends (from heat damage) which is quite the challenge.

the products
tresemme cleansing shampoo
tresemme moisturising conditioner
pantene 3 minute miracle
hair dryer
sebastian potion 9
tresemme 24hr body root booster spray
toni&guy heat tamer spray
ghd straightning iron
tresemme hair mousse
tigi bedhead brunette goddess shine spray

how i do it
1. wash my hair with shampoo, just in the roots and rinse
2. put conditioner in bottom of hair and leave for a few minutes then rinse, once a week or every two I put in pantene 3 minute miracle for three minutes in the bottom of my hair
3. put my hair up in a towel for 10 minutes, then take down and comb through
4. blow dry bangs on the cool setting of hair dryer
 5. put sebastian potion 9 in bottom of hair and spray root boster spray in roots, then spray in heat tamer spray and blow dry whole hair on the hot setting and blow dry upside down
6. once dry spray in heat tamer spray again and straighten all of hair with ghd straightner
7. then apply mousse on the bottom of hair
8. spray a little bit of shine spray into hands and run all over hair
and finished.

pretty little liars + whats coming up

Sadly, they don't screen pretty little liars here in new zealand which sucks a lot, I have read the first two books and I love them both but I haven't been able to find the other six. My uncle downloaded the first five episodes of the show and so far I've watched three and I'm obsessed. It's so mysterious and I kept wanting to read more. It's perfect, if only they made a movie out of my other favourite book, the summer I turned pretty.

bring on summer..

Over in New Zealand our seasons are different and right now it's winter going into spring, we've had winter weather all week which I hate because of rain but supposedly since it's 31st of August, spring starts around tomorrow. Which I guess is good since I can go back and look at all the spring hair and fashion posts on blogs of people from the other side of the world. Pretty soon the school term will be ending meaning term holidays for a couple weeks (and the end of term run which I'm not too happy about) and then it's straight back into last term of school including exams and then summer! Jeez I love summer so much, not only cause of holidays but also because of make-up, hair and clothes. Firstly in summer I have relatives in Australia near Sydney who live near this beautiful beach, I'm not sure how long we are going because last year we stayed for two weeks and went to Sydney and then the Gold Coast which is where all the theme parks are. Then when we come back we go to a camping ground in the north island for two weeks which is a lot funner than it sounds, just the people and beach parties during the day and at night. Getting tanned is nice as well, not lying out in the sun but just walking around getting that glowy tan.

{hair}
just left out or in a messy ponytail or bun, spritz a little salt water into it. It can get damaged though so in summer use really moisturizing conditioners (bedhead moisture maniac, tresemme salon silk), if your really worried, spritz a little heat tamer spray in your hair. Also a leave in conditioner will help, let your hair dry naturally and leave straightening to a minimum.

{make-up}
Since you get tanner, it kinda evens out your complexion. Minimal make-up, tinted moisturizer, cream blush, waterproof mascara and vaseline or like a tinter lip conditioner for your lips. My skin also seems to clear up rapidly in summer which I adore.

{style}
fairly simple in summer, cute swimsuits. Ripped denim shorts, cute little tops with pictures of the beach or slogans on them but not little kiddy prints. Summer dresses or maxi dresses. As for shoes, flip flops or whatever, this is going to sound bad but I wear bare feet a lot of the time at the camping ground.

Sorry for this post, I'm just too excited for summer!
